How do I know what cap size I need?
Measure with tailor’s tape around your head. You may need a helping hand to be accurate – measure from your natural front hairline, behind your ears to the nape of your neck and around your other ear, back to the front of your hairline.
How do I measure the length of a wig?
Measure from the top of your head (the crown) to the bottom of the length. Curly wigs are the same length so you may want to buy a slightly longer length to allow for the curls. Remember tight curls will make the wig shorter, where a bigger bouncier curl will not make the wig as short.
What are the different types of wigs and caps?
Caps are what the hair is attached to and this is the bit that sits on your head. Making sure you have the right cap will help you find a wig you are comfortable wearing. Each cap type different advantages.
Most wigs have hair attached in “wefts” (these are strands of hair doubled over and sewn closely together in long sections). These sections are then machine sewn, hand sewn or hand tied horizontally onto a wig cap.

A standard cap is the most common and widely used on most standard wigs creating an affordable wig. The wefts of hair are machine-sewed onto the standard cap. The hair is styled at the crown by either crimping or teasing the hairstyle to create a natural body to the style, and to cover where the wefts have been sewn into the cap crown. An affordable, easy to care for wig.

A capless wig is not very different to a standard cap design. The difference is the wefts of hair are sewn vertically not horizontally into the cap crown, this leaves small gaps (not noticeable) between the wefts, it also allows more ventilation to the head, making the wig lighter and cooler to wear. Ideal for the summer or for people who wear wigs for long periods of time.

Monofilament caps are made from a thin, breathable nylon or polyester mesh, the mesh is so fine that your scalp will show through and create the most natural looking hairstyle. Monofilaments are also very adaptable, the hair is individually hand tied to the crown allowing the hair to be styled in any way required. These wigs are the most expensive style of wigs, but are especially good for people with very little or no natural hair as the cap area is so soft on sensitive scalps where the standard cap and capless wigs can be itchy and irritate sensitive skin.

Monofilament and wefted caps are a good combination, the soft monofilament is great for sensitive skin, the weft areas can be used at the sides and back to create a wig that is affordable and comfortable to wear.

Will wearing a wig damage my hair or stop it growing?
The quick answer is no. But you can do things to stimulate your hair growth. Make sure you wash your scalp and hair regularly, and don’t use heavy conditioners as these can block your pores. Massage your scalp daily for about 10 -15 minutes to stimulate the hair follicles and encourage growth.

How long will my wig last?
Taking care of your wig will help it to last longer, but if you wear your wig most days it will generally last for a round 2 years

How do I take care of my wig/Can I wash my wig?
Keep your wig on a head model when you are not wearing it.

To wash your wig, fill a sink with hand warm water and a gentle shampoo just a small squirt, as much as you would use to wash your own hair. Submerge the wig for about 5 minutes, gently swirling the hair through the water to clean. Do not rub or scrub the hair. Refill the sink with clean hand warm water and repeat to remove all traces of shampoo, keep repeating until the water is clear. Very gentle squeeze excess water from the wig (do not twist the hair), place the hair on a head model and sit on a towel and leave to dry naturally overnight. Do not brush your wig when wet or use a hairdryer.

When the wig is dry carefully style it to the original style.

How do I know what cap size I need?

Can I cut my wig or straighten or curl my wig?
Your wig can be cut, but we don’t recommend it – like hair it has been styled into a specific design and if you try to restyle it you could ruin your wig. Peter is a qualified stylist for wigs and would be happy to chat to you and advise whether your wig can be restyled. Straightening a wig will damage the hair as will curling your wig. We recommend you buy two wigs so you can change between a straight style and a curly style.
Can I dye my wig?
Only human hair wigs can be dyed, synthetic hair will not hold the colour and you will damage it. If you do want to dye a human hair wig we recommend you have it done professionally, please contact Peter to discuss.
How do I choose the best colour for me?
The colour guides on our website are for a guide only as different monitors, laptops and phones will display a different shade.

Generally I would choose a colour that is not far from your natural colour, if you choose a lighter shade this can create a more youthful look but don’t go too light or you can look pale and drawn. Darker shades create a more dramatic look, and ladies may need to wear stronger make-up to complete the look.

Will my wig move or fall off when I do sports?
If you measure your cap size correctly there is no reason your wig should fall off. Hairpieces for men with receding hairlines are created in such a way that they will not move.
How long will my wig take to deliver?
On the day you place your order your wig will be requested for the warehouse and dispatched by your chosen postal method as soon as we can – this usually take 3 – 5 days. If you need your order for a specific date please let us know and we will do our best to help you.

If we discover an error in the price of any goods which you have ordered, we will inform you of this as soon as possible and give you the option of reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling it. If we are unable to contact you we will treat the order as cancelled
Under the Distance Selling Regulations, you have a right to cancel your order for any item purchased on this website for a full refund. You should inform us of any such cancellation via the following methods: Contact us page, letter, fax, email or telephone. On cancellation we aim to refund within 10 working days upon receipt of the wig

Delivery
All prices are inclusive of VAT
We aim to deliver within 5-7 working days, however we cannot guarantee delivery within this time
If we are unable to deliver your goods, or delivery is to be significantly delayed, we will inform you and you may cancel your order and claim a full refund
Delivery is charged in accordance with our Delivery and Returns Policy. All orders will be sent in plain packaging and will be needed to be signed for
Delivery is free of charge on orders over £35.00.UK Mainland only
We are also able to offer special deliveries for urgent orders. Charges start at £7.00 Please call the office to check stock and postage costs
Delivery for items less than £35.00 will be charged from £5.00

Items out of stock
Items temporarily out of stock will be put on back order and you will be notified immediately, by e-mail or telephone. You then have the choice to wait for your order, choose a different colour/style or cancel the order
Returns
In the event that the goods are unsuitable, you may cancel them within 7 working days to our business premises for an exchange or a refund
Goods should be returned at your own cost, and in their original condition and packaging. On receipt of the returned goods we will dispatch a replacement or provide a refund. Refunds will be processed within 10 days of receiving the returned item. Please note the cost of postage will be deducted from the refund
Peter Hart Hair Clinic provides a free delivery service on wig purchases over £35.00. If a wig is returned and not purchased, a £5.00 postage charge will be deducted from your refund
You will be liable for any damage to the goods caused while in your possession
If we do not receive the returned goods within 7 working days you will deemed to have accepted the goods
Accessories are non returnable (Shampoos etc)
If a client repeatedly returns products, Peter Hart Hair Clinic reserves the right not to supply future goods to the individual concerned
All sales from outside the UK mainland are non returnable
Return of unwanted goods is at our discretion. Returns will only be accepted if cancelled within 7 working days in a resaleable condition, in their original packaging. This is non negotiable

Multiple orders
Peter Hart Hair Clinic reserve the right to refuse multiple orders. Please do not order several wigs to try on. A 15% charge will be incurred on any items returned from multiple orders. A credit note will be issued for all multiple returns
